Laura Portwood-Stacer

Laura Portwood-Stacer, PhD, runs online courses and workshops that help scholarly authors around the world publish outstanding books. She is the author of The Book Proposal Book: A Guide for Scholarly Authors (Princeton UP, 2021) and the forthcoming Make Your Manuscript Work: A Guide to Developmental Editing for Scholarly Writers (out August 5th from Princeton University Press). Before becoming a developmental editor, Laura earned a PhD in Communication from the University of Southern California, taught media and cultural studies at New York University, and published a monograph titled Lifestyle Politics and Radical Activism (Bloomsbury, 2013). Laura currently lives in Los Angeles and is a two-time Jeopardy! champion.
