Takeia Anthony

TaKeia N. Anthony is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky where she is the first African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in history. She is a proud three time HBCU (Historically Black College and University) graduate. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in history from North Carolina Central University, where she was also inducted in 40 under 40; and she earned her Ph.D. in African Diaspora and Public History from Howard University. In 2023 Dr. Anthony was the recipient of the Freedom Scholar Award given by the Association for the Study of African-American Life and History (ASALH) where she is also a life member. She is a 2025 Brown University Digital Publishing Fellow and a 2025 Clark Atlanta University HBCU Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) Fellow.
