This session will bring together authors who've published open access books to share their perspectives and experiences. They'll address questions such as, why did they choose to publish OA? How did their colleagues respond to their decision? Where did the funding come from, and how involved were they in obtaining it? Did anything surprise them about the results – for example, did it lead to any new or unexpected contacts or collaborations? Did it enable them or their publishers to promote their books in new ways or to reach different audiences? Did they have any doubts and if so, how did they get past them? Did publishing OA have any impact, positive or negative, on their work or their career? Do they have any regrets? Is OA publishing likely to have an impact on their field? Do they have any advice for other authors considering OA, or for publishers talking with prospective authors about the opportunity?
